Johnny Stingray is an illustrator and designer living and working in London. He featured in our book Surf Graphics. Recent work includes album sleeves for bands with diverse styles of music. ‘Heavy Electric Punk Blues’, ‘Mariachi Death Surf’ and ‘Bourbon Soaked Gypsy Blues Bop’n’Stroll’ are some of the tag lines of bands he has worked with to date. Taking inspiration from the music itself, the images and designs he creates are mostly intricate, layered with detail and texture.
“His work can be summed up as art and design fuelled by the alchemy between music and striking visual imagery.” - Pinstriping & Kustom Graphics Magazine, March 2019
This will be a rare opportunity to see Stingray’s artwork up close and personal whilst enjoying a drink and a bite to eat. There will be original artwork as well as posters and prints and other goodies for sale at the venue.
The BAD IDEA FACTORY will run throughout the WHOLE of JULY at Le Petit Corner, Leytonstone. Please check opening times of Le Petit Corner on their Facebook page.
The exhibition is part of The Leytonstone Arts Trail 2019. Walthamstow is the first London Borough of Culture.
